This is another year of innovation and first time experiences for CCDS members. We will start the year with a Spouses Social event featuring a convention like atmosphere with a Candidate Forum. We will have two joint meetings with MDS, the first on September 19 for an ACA update. In October there will be an all day HIPPA update that can serve as your required annual HIPPA office review. Risk Management (ODS required class) is offered in October. For more details on meeting content go to www.clackamasdental.com events tab.

OBD Revised Administrative Rules
The Oregon Board of Dentistry has sent out a postcard announcing the important rules changes effective August 1, 2014. I will repeat what the postcard said just incase you missed the little green card. Every license holder is responsible to know the new administrative rules so they will not be caught flat footed when the Board comes calling.
Three of the more significant changes to these rules include: (1) dental hygienists without an Expanded Practice Permit are no longer able to prescribe any medications, (2) effective January 1, 2015 all licensees will need to have a current Healthcare Provider BLS/CPR certification and (3) all licensees will have to have as part of their continuing education requirements Two (2) hours of CE in infection control.
